Why we fall for political spin

The Washington Post

Cognitive biases can affect the way we perceive information, sometimes leading to irrational behavior and affecting our decision-making. Politicians, among others, know this and try to use these biases to win favor.

Why we fall for political spin

This quiz was built to let people learn more about these biases and how they might affect our minds. Through five steps, the user can answer five different questions illustrated by five mental illustrations and discover if they fell into the trap of a certain bias or if they escaped. Each bias is also explained by an example of a politician that has used it to spin our opinion on certain matters. This interactive test is based on the Tversky and Kahneman work on decision-making and it introduces gamification  dynamic into an editorial content.

The piece was designed and developed along with the Graphics team of the Washington Post.
