Universal Health Coverage campaign

World Health Organisation

One of the pillar campaigns for the WHO is fighting for Universal Health Coverage across the globe. For the UNGA in October in New York, the communications team wanted to create a campaign that touched both the general public to generate awareness on the matter and the policy makers to lobby for this vital cause.

Why should you support UHC?

Through a horizontal scroll, users could visualize an illustrated canvas that showed the main arguments in favor of UHC. These arguments can be used by ministries of Health or they may be explanatory for people that need to generate awareness for the cause.

Visualizing support for UHC on a map

The main part of the campaign was generating an experience that allowed the WHO to show support for UHC. This campaign began online and ended with an interactive installation during UNGA in NY. For the web, people could select where they lived, choose the argument that they related the most with and place an umbrella on their hometown on a map.

We created a visualization based on a custom 3D map and that worked on different levels. We had polygons related to the number of umbrellas we had for a certain area. Once you zoomed in, you could see the exact umbrellas in the exact places. We had a different view for all the tweets that we got pulling data from the #HealthForAll Data.

Landing page

The campaign was based on the idea that we needed to explain clearly and visually what UHC is and the main arguments to support them. On the landing page, the main block was dedicated to the map experience, where we asked people to add their voice and join the movement in favor of UHC. We also visualized the tweets that were done supporting the campaign #HealthForAll.

The final push for the campaign came from an interactive installation for the United Nations General Assembly in October where all the main stakeholders attended.
